BarleyMash | San Diego

Our first pit stop in San Diego is BarleyMash located in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp District. BarleyMash offers a fun, high energy environment that celebrates the richness of American culture through its progressive barfare. Their outdoor space is perfect for ‘people watching’ and sunshine.  I’ll take their  inexpensive bubbly by the bottle which is exactly what a girls weekend is calling for… heck maybe every weekend (who am I kidding). And If you aren’t into the bottle, there is the option to create your own mimosa. Let’s just say for brunch, BarleyMash knows how to do things right.

Mimosas @ BarleyMash

We sit and are welcomed by more than one server. It seems every server shares tables here which is refreshing. If you need anything, there is always someone around to help.  Tables seem full but not hard to come by. We arrived shortly after 10am and had full reigns of where to sit.  After a hour, the place was pretty dang full (and for good reason). People seem to enjoy the inside as much as the outside on a sunny San Diego day.

As for food. Well, lets just say I find it hard to pick just one.  I’m partial to the BarleyHash. With 5 different kinds, it’s a pile of goodness that is impossible to finish due to it’s sheer size but it wont stop you from trying.  Check out their brunch menu: http://www.barleymash.com/menu/brunch/

Kickin’ Chicken @ BarleyMash – Michelada braised chicken, salsa fresca, guacamole, sour cream, pepper jack beer – cheese.

BarleyMash is open Monday – Friday 11:30am – 2:00am and Saturday – Sunday (for us early brunchers) 10:00am – 2:00 am.
