Best Dang Black Bean Veggie Burger
Ready for the best dang black bean burger? Then continue reading:
Lets just say, this black bean burger is jam packed full of flavor.
When I first made this recipe a couple years ago it was a little out of sorts. The recipe was too complicated and called for too many ingredients.. Since I’m focused on created clean simple dishes packed with flavor, I decided to tweak the recipe to make it simpler, quicker and yummier.
The patties are the perfect texture: Crispy on the outside but not too dry. And, as many fear with a bean burger, they keep together whether you bake them, BBQ them or pan fry them.
Because black bean burgers can be super filling, I prefer lighter toppings such as cucumber, sprouts, light Swiss cheese and a healthier spread using fat free sour cream (you wont know the difference).
If you have extra time, I h i g h l y recommend making my homemade brioche buns. It’s takes a simple recipe and kicks it up a notch (plus who doesn’t love the smell of fresh bread in the household).

For the Patties
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Once preheated shut off oven.
On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spread out black beans and allow to dry out in oven (shut off). This should take about 10-15 minutes.
In a food processor, add the black beans and remaining patty ingredients and blend just enough to bind but leaving some chunks. The mixture should still be slightly sticky but have the ability to form the patties. If it’s too wet, add a little bit more of the panko crumbs. If i’ts too dry, add the second egg. Form into desired sized patty about 1/2 inch think (it should make 10 small patties or 5-6 large).
Heat large pan over medium high heat. Once the pan is hot, add enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Place the patties in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes a side until lightly browned and slightly crispy.
For the Sriracha Chili Aioli
Add mayo, sriracha, and chili powder in a small bowl. Mix well. Salt and Pepper to taste
To Serve
Lightly toast the brioche buns, Add the aioli to both sides of the bun. Add onion, tomato, cooked patty, avocado, cucumber, slaw and top with peashoots. Serve with your favorite side. Enjoy!
