Homer St. Cafe & Bar

I LIVE for brunch…Food and Champagne to kick start your day isn’t the worst thing to do on a weekend right?

So, when I realized I had nothing planned this morning, I eagerly jumped on the idea of brunch at one of my favorite spots downtown Vancouver; Homer St. Café & Bar.

Set in  Vancouver’s historic Homer building, there is certainly no lack of charm.  Combine that with vintage tiles, reclaimed wood and factory windows and you’ll have a hard time keeping your eyes on just what’s in front of you.  The building is a absolute stunner.  My first reaction; I wish I could live here…

We kicked off with a bottle of bubbly (Naturally); and had a difficult time trying to pick just one item off the menu.

The culprits:

  • Chicken Hash with Jalapeno, soft poached egg, mushrooms and greens.
  • Salmon Eggs Benedict
  • Pork Belly, Sausage, Fried Eggs and Toast

It should be said that the food here is contemporary with Rotisserie Chicken as their specialty (drooling yet). You can check out there menu here.

If that wasn’t enough food.  We opted for something sweet to finish off brunch (and some Rose of course).  This dessert was absolutely delicious.  Lemon Ricotta Fritters with Lavender. Can you say yum!

To give you an idea of the feel of this place, see below:

Environment: Casual ( but if you want to dress up like I do, then do it! it wont be weird) **

Food: Casual but elevated and refined

Service: Friendly knowledgeable staff, non invasive, helpful and accommodating. *

** If you are a foodie, sit at one of their Chef’s tables. It’s a great spot to watch the chefs in action.

*On more than one occasion the staff have gladly taken us with very little wait in a full restaurant and no reservation. They have also accommodated our request to sit at different tables once sat and were settled without complaint.
